IM Mastery Academy has doubled down on its planned Barcelona event, despite the arrest of senior Spanish producers.

Eight associates of the IM Mastery Academy were detained by the Spanish National Police last week. The suspects’ names have yet to be revealed.

The IM Mastery Academy, which was functioning as a pyramid scam, was the center of the Spanish criminal inquiry. The fact that IM Mastery Academy targeted teenagers was one of the most distressing aspects of the inquiry.

A scheduled IM Mastery Academy event in Barcelona coincided with the arrests. Tickets to the IM Mastery Academy can cost up to EUR 400.

The tournament will be held in the Palau Municipal d’Esports de Badalona, and it will begin on April 8th.

It was expected that IM Mastery Academy will cancel and refund tickets in light of the arrests.

That doesn’t appear to be the case, at least as of yesterday:

Chris and Isis Terry will headline IM Beyond, which is being billed as “the largest event of 2022” by IM Mastery Academy.

It looks like IM Mastery Academy is betting that Spanish authorities will take no further action. Given the recent arrests and the National Police’s designation of IM Mastery Academy as a pyramid scam, it’s a significant risk.

According to Alexa’s website traffic research, IM Mastery Academy is now being marketed in the Dominican Republic (23%), Chile (16%), and the United States (16 percent ).

The arrest of IM Mastery Academy’s Spanish leaders has not been officially recognized, nor has the inquiry by the National Police.

If the IM Beyond event in Barcelona goes forward as scheduled, it should be highlighted that it has nothing to do with the legal status of IM Mastery Academy in Spain.

The Spanish government’s view is clear: IM Mastery Academy is a pyramid scam, and it is unlawful to promote it in Spain.

As of April 8th approaches, I’ll be on the lookout for any new information.

Updated on April 8th, 2022 – The arrest of its Spanish founders has prompted IM Mastery Academy to publish a press statement.
